ARTMOR1 is a French artist born in Paris (France) in 1983. He grew up in the capital city surrounded by subway trains covered with graffiti writing, and streets filled with colourful designs created by artists like Jérôme Mesnager and Jef Aérosol who would make a lasting impression on him. He then moved to Nice and from 1998 started creating graffiti pieces under the pseudonyms of Snake and Sinsé. His travels to Berlin, London, Bristol, Amsterdam and Paris in 2017 inspired him to create his own stencil artwork on different mediums.
He was immediately taken with the stencil technique, fascinated by its realistic aspect and potential for communicating messages by surprising passers-by with the unexpected. Beautifying rusty metal plaques and covers, or deteriorated walls weathered by time is how the artist confronts the passer-by and is one of his main motivations. The artist's intention is to use art as a means of drawing in the spectator to convey a message, to create an emotional experience, encourage them to call things into question, take them on a journey, and use their imagination.
